Shells

This image is based on my collection on shells and the colour brown, and I have used this to make a series of shell moulds. I used Manganese Oxide and a sponge to bring out the shell details and make them more older and valuable. After they had been completed, they were placed into the kiln for firing. Some of my objects are not straight and that spoiled it, but it also creates this old effect to each piece of my collection. After they have been fired I will use them in my final collection project and have them lined up in a row, as if it would be in a museum. My whole project is based on the theme of shells and outdoor objects.

Manganese Oxide

These are some of other shell moulds I have done, and some of them look good, but others could be more better and more neater. Some of these have a Copper Oxide on them and others have Manganese. I am planning to have a clear glaze on the small shell moulds at the bottom with a Copper Oxide. I placed Oxides on these because the detail of the shells does not show up without it. In my collection I want to have an order of size and scale to each one.

My sample pieces were used to test out different types of colour Luster's and oxides. Scratching into the clay creating deeply positive marks onto the clay. We used different colours and two Oxides. I used a clear glaze for the title on my sample and Luster's for decoration. I fired and Glazed my other two samples to change the effect and see how other Oxides work.
