Gary Hume print

I am inspired by Gary Hume prints because he just looks at the shape and figure of a person, not the detail. I like how he has chosen three colours and worked light to dark. His prints are bright and are designed and painted well. I have used his technique to make some of my pieces of work using other people, and myself. I like how there is negative space and no facial features to bring this print out more, but you can see what it is. I have used outline of people in my screen-printing just as Gary Hume has done in his prints. I have this technique throughout the work and on my blog as you can see, and I will use this all the way through to my final FMP.

Ceramic Collection

I have created ceramic pine cones from my collection project and placed them in order from small to large. I have used red clay to print my pine cones into the clay and create ceramic pieces of work. I have used clear glaze over the top of the pine cones to that you can see the detail of the carving and to give a shine to the pieces. Using sharp metal tools and using my pine cones as a reference, I was able to look at the detail and create nice effects with the tools as it went into the clay. What I like about the pieces I have made is the uneven and sharp edges, which gives the composition an interest. The white background makes the ceramic piece's stand out more and the light reflects on the glaze and shows the pure carving of the pine cones. Some of them I did did not turn out well, but I still used them in my final collection project.
